Sonja came into my office all grumpy because she hasn’t received her invite to test Google Wave. “Ron, I signed up for the new Google wave and I haven’t received my e-mail invitation yet.” Now, since I have never worked on the computer and being oblivious to what Google Wave is, I said “Well what do you want me to do about it?”
Sonja goes on to explain to me what this Google Wave thing is all about. She tells me that this new media platform- “whatever the hell that is”- is the fastest, up-to-date way to communicate. She was so excited about it and started going on and on about all the cool things you can do with this site, but of course to me it was foreign language. According to Sonja, this Google Wave has so many features and gadgets on it from chatting public or private to posting videos, forums, pictures and blogs. It will take her some time to play with it all. Just about anything you can think of, it can do, from my understanding. He explained that you can embed your Waves on your websites, and the viewers can comment right there off your web page, and you will see it on your Google wave home page. Now, what the hell is a wave? I know she is not talking about the one she used to surf on! You can communicate with anyone off any website and they don’t even have to be a Google Wave member. Great way to get your word out, I guess. Basically, this wave thing has just about anything you can think of.
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! That’s great and all, but if you think that sounds fun wait until you hear about the “Wave” of fun that we will be having in Jacksonville this weekend, and it has nothing to do with computers!
